This cartoon, appearing January 2, 1847, appears to be anonymous. O'Connell is depicted as Joseph Ady, a notorious imposter, who bilked the English public by circulating letters promising, on the receipt of a suitable fee, to inform those whom he addressed of "something to their advantage."

The Irish peasant, wearing his "Repeal hat," is saying, "Now yer Honour's got the money-- What will I be hearing to my advantage?" O'Connell responds, "Verily Friend, When thou canst get it, thou will have Repeal." The cartoon is subtitled, "Paddy Hearing 'Something to his Advantage.'"
