DOAJ Directory of Open Access Journals.
This service aims to cover all subjects in free, full text quality controlled scholarly journals (2,670 as of 05/2007). It can be used to find articles by keyword or author as well as journals by subject tree.
OpenDOAR The Directory of Open Access Repositories.
Most of the repositories listed (864 as of 05/2007) are for submissions from scholars at those institutions but there are exceptions such as the Perseus Digital Library which contains a wide variety of material on classics gathered over the years from around the world.
There are interesting charts showing what, where, etc.
ROAR Registry of Open Access Repositories
ROAR has a search filter Research Cross-Institutional which can be used to locate subject repositories open to submissions from experts in the field e.g antbase.org
NDLTD Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations
NDLDT is designed to promote the use, dissemination and preservation of electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs). The website has information on how to set up an ETD programme. It accepts ETDs from authors from institutions with no such programme.
